Phoenix Rise from Ashes, Rally Twice for Double Header Victory.

In the 1st game, Phoenix started slow, falling behind by four runs in the second inning. Our squad didn’t settle, with everyone getting involved to assist our rookie team. Guildford's bullpen faced a battering, with one pitcher used in the first two innings and two reliefs later, causing them to lose momentum. Eventually, they suffered a loss, giving up 13 runs without any hits. Phoenix won 17-7. We must learn from starting slowly and strive to fire on all cylinders from the start, as we wouldn’t want this to happen often. Oh wait, the second game is yet to come.

In the 2nd game, we seemed to enjoy giving ourselves a challenge this week, with errors allowing the opposition to gain a hefty lead, leading them to believe they had secured the win. We were nine runs behind going into the last inning. However, Phoenix began to rally back, scoring three runs with no outs. Despite losing two quick outs, leaving a daunting challenge ahead, the team rallied with the "2 Down Rally Hat" coming on. The rookie team finished with twelve runs scored in the inning, granting us a three-run lead. With a pep talk before the bottom of the fourth inning, We Called on our assistant manager to see out the game as pitcher. It didn’t disappoint seeing the game out with no runs. Winning the game 17-14.

Manager Report:

Outfield need to work on positioning and involving themselves in backing up infield.

Not an ideal position to be in being behind in both games but the fight that the ‘rookie’ players showed a great come back.  Training will be good to shake off issues that are occurring in game situations.
