Inferno’s Fiery Triumph Over The Merlins 14/7/24

Target Accomplished: Inferno Scores Back-to-Back Wins Against the Merlins

For the Inferno, the goal was clear: to secure two wins against the Merlins, breaking the trend of splitting victories in our previous encounters. The motivation was high, especially considering the two-hour journey to play at Pontcanna Field in Cardiff. The Inferno did not disappoint, making the trip worthwhile with two thrilling victories.

Game 1: A Nail-Biter to Remember

The first game was nothing short of a rollercoaster. We started strong, scoring four runs right off the bat, but the Merlins quickly responded, setting the stage for a tough battle. By the top of the last inning, we found ourselves trailing 10-8. Determined not to go down easily, we managed to tie the game, pushing it into extra innings.

The extra innings saw both teams fighting hard. We scored another two runs, only for the Merlins to match us. However, it was in the following inning that we truly ignited, scoring a whopping nine runs to seal the victory. The final score: 21-12.

Game 2: Birthday Boy Simon Naranjo Shines

The second game featured standout performances, particularly from our pitcher Simon Naranjo, who was celebrating his birthday. Simon delivered excellent pitches, allowing only three runs and striking out nine batters.

Despite trailing 2-1 until the last inning, our team showed immense character and resilience. In a spectacular turn of events, we erupted with eight runs, clinching the game with a dramatic finish.

A Sunday to Remember

Coming from behind in both games, the Inferno demonstrated incredible determination and skill. It was a Sunday filled with intense moments and hard-fought victories.

We are absolutely thrilled with the results and the character shown by the team. However, as we celebrate these wins, we hope that next time we don't leave it until the last minute to secure our victories.

Stay tuned for more updates on our journey. Go Inferno!
